Heavy Hearts

Image

It is with a heavy heart that I write this post today.  In the wake of such tragedies such as those in Boston yesterday, it is impossible not to reflect on the terrors of 6 years ago that struck our small college town in the beautiful blue ridge mountains of Virginia that I was fortunate enough to call my home for four glorious years.  Like so many, I learned that out of such tragedy comes the resilience of the human spirit and that in the end, love does overcome all hate.  Running has become such an important part of my life and watching the chilling videos and hearing the stories from yesterday’s tragedy made me want to lace up my sneaks and run today for the 32 that can’t.  If you would like to find a way to support those affected by yesterday’s tragedies, my Husband’s Company made these flashy shirts.  All proceeds from the sales will go directly to the Red Cross Eastern Mass division.

Thoughts and prayers with all of those suffering in Boston, and to my dear 32 Hokies, we will neVer forgeT.

April 30 Days of Fitness Challenge

Even though it doesn’t feel like it in DC- Winter is almost over and summer is right around the bend.  With Lent having just ended, I decided I needed a new challenge for myself.  This April I am challenging myself (and you to join me) to incorporate some type of activity into each day in April.  So, whether it’s a run through the neighborhood, a new yoga class or a weekend hike with friends- challenge yourself to fit in at least 30 minutes of activity each of the 30 days of April and track your progress.  If you need a great app to motivate you to run longer and track your strides, I highly recommend the Nike + Running App.  Or– if you need some new workout clothes to inspire you to get out there in style, I am obsessed with the Lululemon Speed Short.  Join me in my challenge & I’d love to hear about your results at the end of the month– goodluck!

Happy Easter!

ImageHappy Friday & Happy Easter weekend!  I hope you have some fun spring time activities planned for the weekend.  We have an Easter egg dying party to attend tonight and then it’s off to Richmond to celebrate Easter & the start to my birthday week with family.  Here’s to hoping my Easter eggs turn out as good as those pretties above.
